Aim

  Pilots are heroes in our hearts. Pilots protect our territory in wartime and put people’s life as priority in peacetime. This program reappears the last 16 seconds of Li Jianying’s life through witnesses’ recollection and reporter’s field coverage and presents audience with the heroic deed and spirit of Li Jianying.

Introduction

  In the morning of Nov. 14, 2006, pilot Li Jianying was on his way back in his fighter after an air patrol. Suddenly a cluster of pigeons hit the fighter and stopped its engine. In this moment, bailout was the first and safest choice for a pilot. Li Jianying could have jumped out of the cockpit with parachute in 0.3 second. However, the fighter had over 800 liters of oil and over 120 rocket missiles. Under the fighter, there were 7 villages with 814 families and 3500 people as well as a highway gas station with a reserve of 120 tons of oil. If the fighter fell down, it would cause a huge disaster. Therefore, Li Jianying gave up 53 parachuting opportunities to force the landing of fighter. The fighter touched land successfully but crashed on a 3.5m high penstock barrier. The forced landing failed.

  The black box clearly recorded that there was only 16 seconds from deciding to bail out to giving up parachuting for forced landing. Li Jianying was consistent in his courageous and resolute armyman style and cost his life to win peace and happiness for more people.

  On hearing the news, the reporter was deeply touched by Li Jianying and immediately went to the accident site to interview farmers and other witnesses and visited Li’s family and colleagues. Based on these first-hand materials, the author wrote this news feature to reappear the scene of the fatal 16 seconds of Li Jianying.

  Reporter: This is the record in black box. On Nov. 14, 2006, pilot Li     Jianying’s fighter encountered a pigeon cluster, he shifted from parachuting to forced landing in 16 seconds.

  Reporter: At 12:04:09, Nov. 14, 2006, Li Jianying was on his way back after an air patrol with his fighter and suddenly hit a cluster of pigeons at the height of 194m. The fighter was badly damaged, and the engine stopped.

  Reporter: 16 seconds, Li Jianying finished his last fly.

  Reporter: Now I’m on the penstock barrier slope which stopped Li’s landing. This is a hilly area, four or five villages spread in 200-300 meters away, and about 20 farmers are working on their farm. On the burned ground, there are still pieces of aircraft and missile. 90 meters away in the north, there is a 30m long and 20cm deep track, as a result of the forced landing.

  Reporter: In the blast spot of aircraft, there are some cigarettes and wine, this is a special way of local people to memorize hero Li Jianying.

  That day was sunny, and we were cutting shallots under the line of fighter. In normal landing, the sound would be pleasant. This time, the sound was weird: gu dong dong, two or three seconds, peng, an aircraft blasted, and then the missiles exploded, the smoke reached that high, and the fire was strong. My wife said to me, what a pity.
  Reporter: It was the harvest time for shallots and autumn cabbage. Farmers including Zhao Linsheng and Yang Lilin were working on their land.

  I was working, when I turned up, smoke was up, and big fire.
  Reporter: Bird-aircraft crash is a hot potato for the whole world. When aircraft hits birds and stops working, for pilots, parachuting is the first and safest choice.

  The success rate of popping up cockpit seat is 100%. When it is necessary to bailout, pilots just need to pull down this central ring, and the seat will pop up in 0.3 second to save his life.
  Reporter: 0.3 second is enough to bailout. According to Bai Huabin, an aircraft engineer, Li Jianying had 53 parachuting opportunities. Li had over 20 years of flying experience, but in the first moment, Li Jianying said “I hit birds, I’ll adjust to jump”. In such an emergency, why he said he would make adjustment?

  The fighter had over 800 liters of oil and over 100 missiles. If it fell down, the explosion radius would reach 120m, just like a huge missile hitting a village.
  Reporter: That was because within 680m area in the two sides of his flying line, there located 7 villages with 814 families and 3500 people as well as a highway gas station with a reserve of 120 tons of oil. If he didn’t adjust the landing direction and bailed out directly, then the fighter would drop into the village or the gas station.

  In 16 seconds, it was possible for him to jump out in any second. But he didn’t, what was in his mind was the safety of people and villages.
  Reporter: In the aviation history of the world, the success rate of forced landing without working engine is very low. At that moment, Li’s fighter was sliding down without enough speed and height, which was very disadvantageous for forced landing.

  Li Jianying and I were in the same area for air patrol. I played the role of “Blue Army”, and he played the role of “Red Army” as counterattack. When I was about to return back to port, I heard his report clearly. A few seconds later, radio signal disappeared. I saw smoke below on the ground.
  Reporter: “Blue Army” pilot Cao Changfu described the scene of that moment. Li’s fighter touched land successfully and slided for 39.3m, but then crashed on a 3.5m high penstock barrier and exploded. The site was only 200m away from two nearest villages.

  You may say I’m so selfish, but I really wish that he would have bailed out. I don’t want him to be a hero. His safety is the most important thing for me. When he has gone, my heart became blank because it has gone together with him.
  Reporter: Li Jianying’s wife Li Yueping and his son Li Zhun came to mourn for him. In the accident site, Li Zhun found a piece of cockpit shell. He told me that he would make it into three pendants, one like star for his mother, the other two like moons for his brother and himself, and every piece would be carved with a word “Ying”.

  I think he was right because if he didn’t force to land, if he didn’t sacrifice, then much greater pain would have been caused to many more people. My father is courageous! I love him! We love him!

  飞行员是人们心中的英雄。飞行员战时捍卫国家领空,和平时期同样把群众生命安危放在第一位。本节目通过飞机黑匣子的记录,通过记者在现场的采访,再现李剑英人生最后16秒的声音和目击者的回忆,让听众感受到了李剑英的英雄气概。

内容简介

  2006年11月14日上午,飞行员李剑英驾驶战机执行完空中巡逻游猎任务,在返场着陆途中突遭鸽群撞击,战机发动机空中停车。在这种情况下,跳伞是飞行员首要也是最安全的选择,只需0.3秒,李剑英就能弹出座舱跳伞自救。但是,当时飞机上带有800多公升航油,120多发航弹、火箭弹。飞机下滑线下分布着7个自然村,814户居民,3500多口人,还有一个储油120吨的高速路口加油站。如果飞机失去控制坠落,就相当于一颗巨型炸弹。于是,李剑英放弃了53次的跳伞机会,驾机迫降,飞机成功按地但却撞在了3.5米的水渠护坡上,迫降失败。

  飞机黑匣子清楚地记录,从决定调整跳伞到放弃跳伞实施迫降,只有16秒钟。李剑英始终保护着果敢、刚毅的军人作风,他用自己的生命赢得了更多人的平安和幸福。

  获悉此事,记者被李剑英的事迹深深感动,赶到事发现场采访了当时正在地里干活的农民、李剑英的同事和家人,得到了大量的第一手材料,采访制作出新闻特写,再现李剑英16秒生死抉择的场景。


生死抉择十六秒

  记者:这是飞机黑匣子保存的记录。2006年11月14号,飞行员李剑英驾驶战机遭遇一群信鸽撞击后,从最初决定跳伞,到最后改为迫降,只有16秒钟。

  记者:2006年11月14号12点04分09秒,李剑英执行完空中巡逻游猎任务,驾战机返场着陆途中,在194米的高度时突遭鸽群撞击,战机严重损毁,发动机空中停车。

  记者:16秒钟,李剑英飞完了生命最后的航程。

  记者:在事发现场,在阻断李剑英迫降道路的水渠护坡上,我看到,这里四周都是山地,四、五座村庄就分布在二、三百米远的地方,20多位农民正在地里耕作。在被烧焦烧黑的土地上还有飞机和炮弹的残片。向北大约90米以外,有一道大约30米长、20厘米深的痕迹,那是李剑英迫降时飞机与地面刮出的痕迹。

  记者:在飞机爆炸解体的地方,摆放着一些烟和酒,那是老百姓以特殊的方式来祭奠英雄李剑英。

  当时天空也晴朗,我们基本就在飞机的航线上,正在挖葱着呢。如果按正常下降的话,声音非常好听,吱儿。就在这个时间,天空中出现了奇怪的声音,咕咚咚,哎哟,几秒钟,两三秒钟,飞机突然在这个地方,砰的一声响。飞机就爆炸了,还有炮弹呢,轰隆隆地就响开了,烟还那么高,哎哟,那么大火。哎哟,我们家老婆子就说,太可惜了人家了。
  记者:当时,地里的大葱和秋白菜正在收获的季节,赵林生、杨力林等一些农民正干农活。

  干活着呢,头抬了下,烟冒着呢,火上来了,大火。
  记者:鸟撞飞机是世界性航空难题,鸟撞后发动机空中停车,对于飞行员来说,跳伞既是首要处置要求,也是最安全的选择。

  座椅弹出的成功率达到百分之百,当飞行员遇到紧急情况需要跳伞,直接拉一下这个中央拉环,0.3秒,整个座椅就可以脱离飞机,达到救生目的。
  记者:0.3秒就可以弹出座舱跳伞自救,飞行机械师白化彬估算,16秒钟,李剑英可以有53次的跳伞机会。一开始,有着20多年飞行经验的李剑英的确决定跳伞,他向地面报告:
  “我撞鸟了,我要调整跳伞”。情况危急,李剑英还要调整什么呢?

  他这个上面有剩油800多升,炮弹100多发,飞机坠毁之后爆炸散落半径120米,等于一颗巨型炸弹,落入村庄。
  记者:原来,在李剑英降落的下滑线两侧680米范围内,分布着七个自然村,814户居民,3500多口人,还有一个储油120吨的高速路口加油站。如果李剑英不对滑落方向进行调整,直接弃机跳伞,飞机就会失控,坠落在村庄或者加油站内。

  十六秒的时间,他在任何一秒都可以做出决定跳伞。但是他没跳,他想到的是农田里的老百姓,想到的是我们的村庄。
  记者:在世界航空史上,失去动力迫降成功极为少见,而在那时,李剑英的飞机正处在下滑阶段,无高度速度小,迫降条件极为不利。

  我跟李剑英飞同一个空域,空中巡逻游猎,当时我扮演的是蓝军,他扮演的是红军,二对二空战,我们的空域位置在这个方位,根据时间我准备返场的时候,突然听到李剑英报告,听得非常清楚。又等了几秒钟后,无线电里就没有声音了。我就发现,下面有烟了。
  记者:扮演蓝军的飞行员曹长福讲述了当时的空中经历,李剑英驾驶的飞机在迫降时成功接地,并且滑行了39.3米后,撞在了3.5米高的水渠护坡上,飞机爆炸解体。当时,距离最近的两座村庄只有200多米。

  也许这是很自私的,埋怨他怎么不跳伞啊,说实在的,我也不希望他成为英雄,平平安安地飞完就行了。他走了,就觉得心也没了,跟着他走了。
  记者:李剑英的妻子李月平、儿子李凖从西部宁夏赶来祭奠。在事发现场,李凖找到了爸爸飞机上的一块座舱碎片,他告诉我,他要把它打磨成三个项坠儿,一个刻成星星形状给妈妈,另外两块儿刻成月亮形状,自己和弟弟留着,上面都要刻上一个“英”字。

  我感觉他做得是对的,因为如果他当时不迫降,他不牺牲,那带来的痛苦不是我们一家的,我的父亲是勇敢的,无畏的!
